Some 1,200 skins are processed every day by teams of around fifty people.
Mégisserie Richard guarantees its supplies: 100% of the lamb skins used come from the French and Spanish agri-food industries. After the beamhouse and tanning stages, carried out by a partner in Spain, the Mégisserie provides the skins with all the characteristics that will transform them into exceptional leathers.
The dyeing process gives the skins their color, feel and suppleness. Mégisserie Richard has chosen to continue using wooden drums, in keeping with the cultural heritage of the leather industry, but also for technical reasons, as wood is a natural insulator that conserves heat during the process.
Hides then go through a number of stages: wringing, drying, luneting, scraping off, dusting, trimming, smoothing, plating and more.
Finishing, carried out by colorists with a sharp eye, gives the leathers their specific characteristics and properties: uniformity of color, shine, feel and resistance.
Once finished, the leathers are meticulously inspected and sorted one by one to check their conformity before shipment to customers.
These successive stages make it possible to meet customer specifications, as all orders are made-to-measure.
